ABSTRACT
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly influencing the field of pharmacy by supporting drug discovery, drug development, pharmacovigilance, medication safety, clinical decision-making, personalized therapy, pharmacy operations, and education. AI techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and generative AI can analyze large and complex datasets and assist in identifying drug targets, predicting molecular properties, screening potential compounds, optimizing lead molecules, and detecting possible toxicity. AI can also strengthen pharmacovigilance by analyzing adverse drug reactions, electronic health records, drug–drug interactions, and other real-world data. In pharmacy practice, these technologies may improve medication management, treatment personalization, dispensing efficiency, and patient monitoring. However, challenges including poor data quality, privacy and security concerns, algorithmic bias, limited transparency, high implementation costs, lack of trained professionals, and ethical and legal issues must be addressed. AI should therefore be considered a supportive technology rather than a substitute for pharmacists. The future of pharmacy will depend on effective collaboration between AI systems and human expertise, with appropriate professional oversight to ensure safe, ethical, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care.
